Hopefully this post will be somewhat coherent as I am going on 2 hours of sleep on the plane. We flew on Lufthansa this time and really lucked out because we got to fly over on one of their brand new airplanes. This actually made us a bit nervous as it was only its second flight! The great thing was that we each had our own monitors on the seat in front of us and we could choose from about 12 movies what and when we watched.
We flew through Frankfurt--practiced both the German words I know (bitte, danke), arrived in Moscow at quarter to one in the afternoon on Sunday. As soon as we tried to get off the plane, the memories of Russian line ettiquette came back in full force--literally a big man's backside pushing me out of the way. Everyone here just jumps in front of you every chance they get. The customs line is a joke; it really is just a mob of people trying to get in front of each other. One lady took her young daughter and just went under the tape and stood right behind the lady who was being helped at the customs desk. No one ever says anything or gets upset!
Our agency rep picked us up aqnd we drove an hour into downtown Moscow to our apartment we rented through Peace Travel. The apartment lady met us there with the key and all 4 of us and our mountains of luggage squeezed into an elevator that had no light. So, the door closed and up we went in complete darkness! It was so funny! In the apartment we have lots of room, wireless internet, free US calls, satellite TV, a microwave, a washer, a mini fridge and a gas stove. It's great! Now we just have to figure out where a grocery store is, where we can make copies of some paperwork and where we can exchange some money. We're going to head out now to explore and then catch a bite to eat before we crash for the night.
Love to you all!

Glad to hear that you are there safely! I wanted to fill you in on something I heard on NPR about recovering from jet lag. Ideally, you need to fast for 16-20 hours before "resetting" your circadian rhythm. So if you arrive in the morning on your return trip, fast and then the first time you eat will make your body reset that time as morning and it will only take a day to recover vs. 6 days. They also mentioned that it helps, but is not vital, to have darkness for some of your fast (nighttime, sleep, etc). Cool huh? If you attempt this, let me know how it turns out!
Yeah I'm so excited for you!, Good Luck with everthing!!!
