A Visit from Grandma and Grandpa, day 2

The second day they were here was Saturday so after naptime we took off for one of the local apple orchards. Apple orchards are big here in Michigan, and in order to survive, every fall during apple season, all the orchards turn into mini carnivals with wagon rides, corn mazes, haystacks to climb, haunted houses, train rides, tricycle racecourses, animal petting areas and, of course, as soon as you drive up you smell the tantalizing aromas of homemade doughnuts and apple cider.

The kids did really great, and we all had a wonderful time! Afterwards Grandma and Grandpa took us all out to Pizza Hut--which was the first time we've taken all 5 kids to eat at a restaurant. Actually it was a piece of cake, as they were all incredibly hungry by this time, and they all love pizza.

I LOVE this photo of Maya because I will NEVER forget how happy she was on this train ride! Of course she did not want to sit on anyone's lap or hold anyone's hand like the other little ones. She is so very independent. She clutched the railing pretty tight and this huge smile never left her face. Many times she laughed out loud; she just couldn't contain how exciting this was! Somehow when your child is this happy, life just doesn't seem like it can get any better.

No smiles from the kids here as we had to wait for quite a bit before our wagon ride left and they were tired of the wait. Once we got going and they realized they could throw pieces of hay at each other, all was well.

Alex could not get enough of all the little animals. I loved how he squatted down to see them!

I think the hostess thought I was crazy when I said a highchair and 3 booster chairs! :)
