It helps that he sleeps from 7:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. and I am no longer a sleep-deprived mommy, but it has more to do with his emerging opinions and personality, his absolute adoration of me and the rest of the family, and his tiny, cute little body and adorable expressions. His vulnerability and dependence also have a lot to do with it, as well as his beginning efforts to communicate. He does sign language for "more", "down", "milk", "all done", "sleep", and "change diaper." His verbal repertoire of "mama" has expanded to include "woof" for a dog, cat, horse and basically any other animal. Sometimes we can get a "whooo" for an owl. He loves to wave bye-bye and will often give kisses.
He still responds to music and rhythm with a great deal of enthusiasm, and his dance moves are becoming slightly more diversified--he has not only mastered the "bob," but now we have side-to-side action! Actual music is his favorite, but he will make-do with the sounds from the mixer, the food processor, or even the printer. He adds so much laughter and fun to our family.
It is also a joy-filled experience to watch his developing relationships with the other kids. They are really learning how to play with him and enjoy him. Peek-a-boo is, of course, a favorite, as well as building towers for him to knock over, but they can also get him to chase them around the house and vice-versa. He absolutely lights up when everyone arrives home from school.
I love that he can eat more real food and is enjoying all the different tastes. He loves fruit the most: pears, grapes, bananas and berries top the list. He also loves peanut butter and jam sandwiches, lasagna, rolls, canned green beans and steamed carrots.
Quite some time ago we limited his binky-time to the crib and he voluntarily leaves it there when he gets up. He goes to sleep easily. He is eager for his binky then, so he doesn't mind at all when it is time for bed.
Some things Sebastian loves:
--Bathtime, especially with his big brothers!
--Rolling a ball back and forth
--Going for rides around the basement, courtesy of one of his siblings
--Hanging out with Sandy at Emma's birthday party
--Eating pb&j on the way home from church
--Swords! Alex has trained him well in the use of weaponry. :)
--Hats and necklaces! Sebastian loves taking hats on and off and he loves wearing our Rudolf necklace that features flashing lights he can turn on and off.
--Sledding for the first time! Twice this year we have received just enough snow to sled down a little hill in our yard. Both times we have had to seize the moment because the snow was gone by the next day. I think this is the mildest Michigan winter we have experienced in the 6 years we have lived here.
--Participating in Alex's preschool when it was my turn to teach. At first he thought this was exciting and fun, but by the end he realized that they were getting all my attention and he did not hesitate to voice his displeasure. :)
Sebastian also brings back the memories of all the joy I experienced with his blond counterpart, Alex, at this age.
I am so grateful for my children!

I can relate to those tender feelings! It is the greatest blessing to be a mother. He has grown so big! What a cute picture of him with his PB&J face. Haha! Love it!
