New York Trip, day 1

Five days after our camping trip we were off again for a road trip to upstate New York. The church we belong to, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, puts on the Hill Cumorah Pageant in Palmyra, New York. It goes for 2 weeks each July, it's free and about 9,000 people show up to watch each performance. The pageant portrays highlights from the Book of Mormon, which is a translation of a sacred record of the people of ancient America, and their faith in Jesus Christ. We were NOT disappointed with the show! Even though it doesn't start till just after 9 at night, our little ones were totally glued too!

Abinadi-a martyred Nephite prophet who taught of Christ (c. 150 B.C.)
The 14-year-old Joseph Smith--who eventually translated the ancient record into the Book of Mormon (Mormon was an ancient prophet who compiled the record from many larger records.)
Here's a shot of when Lehi's family are on the boat crossing the ocean. They had special effects for water, fire, and even volcanic eruptions. It really was remarkable!
