Isabelle's 5th Birthday

The much anticipated day finally arrived--August 15th! Isabelle's 5th birthday was here!

As a parent the absolute best part of birthdays is experiencing your child's bursting anticipation and excitement vicariously. It almost overwhelms them at this age!

We moved to Michigan two weeks before this little lady decided to enter the world, and so this month also marks 5 years living here. That is our record length of time for living anywhere! The time has seriously flown by. Here's a few pics of my little girl's first year--who has been a little angel in our family from day 1.
and now...

my 5-year-old Isabelle AnneI feel so privileged to be her mother and take part of her life!
To celebrate her special day we started with our traditional birthday breakfast. The gifts on display were driving all the kids crazy with anticipation, so we let her open one before church. Her gift was a mug of her own that she could color and decorate. I thought it was so cute that all the other kids got their coloring things out too, so they could color with the birthday girl. After church we had Isabelle's good friend, Alli, and her family come over for dinner, games, cake and presents. Our good friends and neighbors, Robert and Sandy came over as well for presents and cake.

It is so awesome to see the exchange of love between siblings when they give each other heartfelt gifts. Emma made this card for Isabelle and put a coin, a candy and chapstick in there for her. Isabelle was thrilled! Here is Isabelle in a little Asian costume that her Grandma and Grandpa John sent her, it came with matching shoes with bells that you could see inside the soles! What a wonderful day! We love you so very much Isabelle!
