This post is in response to Annie. After writing a response to her question about why I thought our adoption process was so speedy, I realized this should be here on the blog too.
So, here are the reasons our adoption processed so quickly (10 months total, from the birth of the idea to the flight home):
First of all, God knew that we had to bring Maya & Tristan home before the end of 2008 because He knew the economy would plummet, and that my husband's employer would discontinue the adoption benefit that helped make it all possible.
Second, He also gave us the experiences we needed to garner enough courage and faith to jump ship and change agencies after only 5 months with the first agency, even though it made it more expensive.
Third, by working through friends that I had made online in the adoption community, God led us to a new AWESOME agency (Lighthouse Adoptions in Ann Arbor, MI) that was seeking a family for a sibling group (Maya and Tristan), but the family needed to have all their documents already prepared as the children were ready to go and Maya's 4th birthday was approaching (which means she would have been moved out of the baby home and into a children's orphanage that wasn't as friendly to international adoption). After much prayer, we jumped on this opportunity, and now here we are! :)
Fourth, the children were in Moscow city, which is faster than in a lot of regions.
And fifth, to put it simply, He knew it was the right time for us and the right time for them, so He brought us together.

hello there. i just found your blog. we just adopted a little boy from russia. we too are lds and had him sealed to us on february 7th. it was a beautiful and fantastic day. i still haven't had his picture made in his white suit. you have motivated me to hurry up and get that done before he outgrows it! :) congratulations on your new additions. you have a beautiful family.
